Description
Make this quick and creamy whipped hot chocolate using just a few ingredients for a rich, comforting drink.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon powdered sugar (for topping)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for topping)
Instructions
- Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until warm, but not boiling.
- Remove the milk from the heat. Whisk in the cocoa powder and granulated sugar until fully dissolved and smooth. Pour the chocolate mixture into your serving mug.
- In a separate small bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Use a whisk or hand mixer to whip the cream mixture until soft peaks form, creating the fluffy topping.
- Spoon the whipped topping generously over the warm chocolate drink. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a richer base, use whole milk.
- You can substitute the granulated sugar in the base with maple syrup or honey if desired.
- If you do not have heavy cream, you can use stabilized whipped topping from a can, but the texture will differ.
