Ingredients
- All-Purpose Flour: 2 1/2 cups
- Baking Powder: 2 teaspoons
- Baking Soda: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Unsalted Butter (softened): 1 cup (2 sticks)
- Granulated Sugar: 1 1/2 cups
- Eggs (large): 3
- Sour Cream: 1 cup
- Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
- For the Cinnamon Streusel: Brown Sugar (1 cup), All-Purpose Flour (1 cup), Ground Cinnamon (2 teaspoons), Unsalted Butter (melted, 1/2 cup)
- For the Glaze: Powdered Sugar (1 cup), Milk (2-3 tablespoons)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Prepare the streusel: In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Pour in the melted butter and mix with a fork until crumbly. Set aside.
- Prepare the cake batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Mix in the sour cream and vanilla extract until just combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until the batter is smooth. Do not overmix.
- Assemble the cake: Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon streusel mixture evenly over the batter. Gently spread the remaining batter on top. Sprinkle the remaining streusel over the top layer.
- Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes.
- Prepare the glaze: Whisk the powdered sugar and milk together until smooth. Add milk slowly to reach your desired drizzling consistency.
- Drizzle the glaze over the slightly cooled cake before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature ingredients for the best cake texture.
- Sour cream adds the essential moisture to this recipe.
