Description
A recipe to make flavorful, buttery seasoned rice that tastes like the side dish served at Texas Roadhouse.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
- 1 cup long-grain white rice, uncooked
- 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Melt the butter and olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add the uncooked rice to the saucepan and stir constantly for 1 minute until the edges of the grains look slightly translucent.
- Pour in the chicken broth. Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly, and simmer for 18 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
Notes
- Use long-grain white rice for the best texture replication.
- For richer flavor, substitute half of the chicken broth with water.
- Do not skip the resting time after cooking; this helps the rice absorb the remaining moisture evenly.
