Description

You will create a fantastic Honey Garlic Chicken that is sticky, sweet, and savory. This recipe comes together fast, making it perfect for a weeknight meal your family will love.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water (slurry)
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish


Instructions

  1. Season the chicken pieces generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides and mostly cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  4. Pour in the honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar (and ginger, if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly.
  5. Whisk the cornstarch slurry one more time and pour it slowly into the simmering sauce. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens to a glossy glaze, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Toss gently to coat every piece thoroughly with the sticky honey garlic glaze.
  7. Cook for 1-2 minutes more until the chicken is heated through and fully coated.
  8. Serve immediately garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For extra crispy chicken, dust the raw pieces lightly with flour before searing them in step 2.
  • Serve this dish over steamed white rice or brown rice.
