Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, toss the raw almonds with olive oil until they are evenly coated.
- In a separate small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
- Sprinkle the spice mixture over the oiled almonds. Toss well until every almond has a good coating of seasoning.
- Spread the seasoned almonds in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Roast for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until they are fragrant and slightly darkened. Watch them closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.
- Store cooled almonds in an airtight container.
Notes
- For a sweeter heat, add a pinch of brown sugar to the spice mix.
- You control the heat; start with less cayenne and add more if you prefer a stronger kick.
- Make sure the almonds cool fully before storing; moisture trapped inside will make them soft.
