Description

Warm up your soul with this Spiced Hot Apple Cider recipe. It is the perfect cozy drink for a chilly day, bringing together the sweet taste of apples and aromatic spices for a delightful experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Apple Cider
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 4 Whole Cloves
  • 1 Star Anise
  • 1 Orange, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour the apple cider into a medium saucepan.
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise to the cider.
  3. Add the orange slices to the saucepan.
  4. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it simmers. Do not allow it to boil vigorously.
  5. If you prefer a sweeter drink, stir in the brown sugar until it dissolves.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
  7. Remove from heat. Discard the whole spices and orange slices before serving, or leave them in the mug for garnish.
  8. Pour into mugs and enjoy this comforting beverage immediately.

Notes

  • For an extra layer of flavor, you can add a small piece of fresh ginger while simmering.
  • If you do not have whole cloves, you can use 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves, but whole spices give a clearer flavor.
  • Taste the cider before adding sugar; the natural sweetness of the cider varies.
