Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh raspberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-5 lemons)
- 3 cups sparkling water or club soda, chilled
- Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the raspberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the raspberries begin to break down.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let it steep for 15 minutes.
- Strain the raspberry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing gently on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
- Add the fresh lemon juice to the strained raspberry syrup. Stir well.
- Fill glasses with ice.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of the raspberry lemonade base into each glass.
- Top with chilled sparkling water or club soda.
- Stir gently and garnish with fresh mint sprigs or lemon slices, if desired.
Notes
- For a less sweet lemonade, reduce the sugar to 3/4 cup.
- You can make the raspberry lemonade base ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Feel free to add other berries like strawberries or blueberries to the syrup for a mixed berry flavor.
