- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
- 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups cooked grits
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season shrimp with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
- Add butter to the skillet and melt. Add onion and bell pepper and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce.
- Serve the shrimp and sauce over hot cooked grits. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For spicier shrimp, add more cayenne pepper.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like diced tomatoes or mushrooms.
