Description
These smashburger tacos combine the juicy goodness of a burger with the fun and portability of a taco. Thinly smashed patties are cooked to perfection and nestled in warm tortillas with your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- 4-6 small flour tortillas
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Your favorite taco toppings (shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, cheese, pickles, special sauce, etc.)
- Butter or oil for cooking
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 4 or 6 equal portions, depending on how many tacos you want to make. Roll each portion into a ball.
- Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of butter or oil.
- Place a meatball onto the hot surface and immediately smash it down very thin with a sturdy spatula or burger press. Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes until a crust forms on the bottom.
- Flip the patty and cook for another 1-2 minutes until cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, warm the tortillas according to package directions.
- Place a cooked smashburger patty onto each warm tortilla.
- Add your desired taco toppings.
- Fold and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- Using 80/20 ground beef provides enough fat for a juicy smashburger.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan when cooking the patties. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Get creative with your toppings!
