Description
Smash burger tacos combine the juicy flavor of a smash burger with the convenience of a taco.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 1/2 small onion, finely diced
- 4 slices American cheese, quartered
- 1/4 cup pickles, chopped
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, tomato, extra pickles
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to make the burger sauce. Set aside.
- Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
- Heat a large cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Place a tortilla in the skillet. Immediately place a beef ball on top of the tortilla in the center.
- Using a spatula or burger press, firmly smash the beef ball onto the tortilla, spreading it to the edges.
- Season the beef with salt and pepper.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the edges of the beef are browned and crispy.
- Flip the taco. Add two quarters of cheese on top of the cooked beef.
- Cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is lightly browned and crispy.
- Remove from the skillet and repeat with the remaining beef and tortillas.
- Top each smash burger taco with chopped onions, pickles, and a drizzle of the burger sauce. Add optional toppings as desired.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Using a cast-iron skillet gives the best crust on the burger.
- Don’t overcrowd the skillet; cook in batches if necessary.
- Adjust the amount of burger sauce and toppings to your preference.
