Description

Create elegant Rose Petal Sugar Cookies, perfect for showing love on Valentine’s Day. These delicate cookies capture beautiful floral flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons finely ground food-grade dried rose petals
  • 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground rose petals.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  8. Cut the dough into your desired shapes using cookie cutters. Place the shapes on the prepared baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Once cooled, lightly dust the cookies with confectioners’ sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use only food-grade, untreated rose petals for grinding.
  • For a stronger rose flavor, add a few drops of rose water to the wet ingredients.
  • Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
  • These cookies look beautiful with a light pink or white royal icing drizzle.
