Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound white button mushrooms, stems removed and finely chopped
- 8 ounces lump crab meat, drained and picked over
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs, plus extra for topping
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Wipe the mushroom caps clean. Chop the removed stems finely.
- In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice, parsley, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Gently fold in the lump crab meat, ensuring you do not break up the lumps too much.
- Stir in the 1/4 cup of panko breadcrumbs until just combined.
- Arrange the mushroom caps cavity-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spoon the crab mixture evenly into each mushroom cap, mounding it slightly.
- In a small bowl, mix the extra panko breadcrumbs with the Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this topping over the filled mushrooms.
- Brush the tops lightly with the melted butter.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the filling is hot and the topping is golden brown.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use fresh, good quality crab meat for the best flavor replication.
- If you prefer a richer flavor, substitute half of the mayonnaise with sour cream.
- You can prepare the filling up to one day ahead and store it covered in the refrigerator.
