Description
Enjoy a warm and comforting apple crumble for two, made quickly on the stovetop in just 15 minutes. This recipe is perfect for a cozy dessert without the fuss of baking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large apple (like Honeycrisp or Fuji), peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cold butter, cut into small pieces
- Optional: Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving
Instructions
- In a small skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
- Add the diced apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes, until the apples are tender.
- While the apples are cooking, in a small bowl, combine the flour and granulated sugar.
- Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a fork to rub the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Once the apples are tender, sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples in the skillet.
- Cover the skillet and cook for another 3-5 minutes, until the topping is heated through and slightly softened.
- Serve immediately, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- You can adjust the spices to your preference.
- If you don’t have brown sugar, granulated sugar can be used, but the flavor will be slightly different.
- For a crispier topping, you can toast the crumble mixture separately in a dry skillet before adding it to the apples, but this will increase the total time.
