Description
You will create the ultimate no-bake Oreo Dirt Cake. This dessert layers crushed Oreos, creamy pudding, and a light whipped topping to form a rich, nostalgic treat. It is simple to assemble and always a hit at any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (14.3 ounces) chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
- 1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk
- 1 container (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened (optional, for extra richness)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (if using cream cheese)
- Gummy worms or candies (for decoration)
Instructions
- Place all chocolate sandwich cookies into a food processor or a large zip-top bag. Crush them until they resemble fine dirt. Set aside about 1 cup of the crumbs for topping.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and the cold milk for about two minutes, until slightly thickened. Let it sit for five minutes.
- If using cream cheese, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth. Fold this mixture into the prepared pudding.
- Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until just combined. Do not overmix.
- In a large trifle dish or individual serving cups, begin layering. Start with a layer of the crushed Oreos.
- Spoon half of the pudding mixture over the cookie layer.
- Add another layer of crushed Oreos.
- Top with the remaining pudding mixture.
- Sprinkle the remaining reserved crushed Oreos over the top layer to create the ‘dirt’ effect.
- Chill the dirt cake in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving to allow it to set.
- Decorate with gummy worms crawling out of the ‘dirt’ before serving.
Notes
- You can use vanilla or cheesecake pudding mix for a different flavor profile.
- For individual servings, use small clear cups or mason jars.
- Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for smooth mixing.
- Crush the cookies by placing them in a large zip-top bag and crushing them with a rolling pin if you do not have a food processor.
