Description

You will create the ultimate no-bake Oreo Dirt Cake. This dessert layers crushed Oreos, creamy pudding, and a light whipped topping to form a rich, nostalgic treat. It is simple to assemble and always a hit at any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 ounces) chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
  • 1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened (optional, for extra richness)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (if using cream cheese)
  • Gummy worms or candies (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Place all chocolate sandwich cookies into a food processor or a large zip-top bag. Crush them until they resemble fine dirt. Set aside about 1 cup of the crumbs for topping.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and the cold milk for about two minutes, until slightly thickened. Let it sit for five minutes.
  3. If using cream cheese, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth. Fold this mixture into the prepared pudding.
  4. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. In a large trifle dish or individual serving cups, begin layering. Start with a layer of the crushed Oreos.
  6. Spoon half of the pudding mixture over the cookie layer.
  7. Add another layer of crushed Oreos.
  8. Top with the remaining pudding mixture.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining reserved crushed Oreos over the top layer to create the ‘dirt’ effect.
  10. Chill the dirt cake in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving to allow it to set.
  11. Decorate with gummy worms crawling out of the ‘dirt’ before serving.

Notes

  • You can use vanilla or cheesecake pudding mix for a different flavor profile.
  • For individual servings, use small clear cups or mason jars.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for smooth mixing.
  • Crush the cookies by placing them in a large zip-top bag and crushing them with a rolling pin if you do not have a food processor.
