Description

Make crispy Brussels sprouts coated in a simple, sweet, and tangy glaze made from orange juice and maple syrup.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread the sprouts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Roast for 15 minutes.
  5. While the sprouts roast, whisk together the maple syrup, orange juice, and orange zest in a small bowl to make the glaze.
  6. Remove the sprouts from the oven. Drizzle half of the glaze mixture over the sprouts and toss gently on the pan.
  7. Return the sprouts to the oven and roast for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until tender and slightly caramelized.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with the remaining glaze. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure your sprouts are dry before tossing them with oil.
  • If you prefer a tangier flavor, add 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the glaze mixture.
  • These pair well with roasted chicken or pork tenderloin.
