Description
You can make this rich, creamy Copycat Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce at home in just 20 minutes. It tastes just like the restaurant version and is perfect served over fettuccine or used as a dip for breadsticks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the melted butter. Whisk constantly until the mixture just begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
- Reduce the heat to low. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese, a handful at a time, until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Continue to cook on low for 2-3 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove the sauce from the heat immediately. If you plan to toss it with pasta, add the cooked fettuccine directly to the sauce.
Notes
- For the best flavor and texture, use freshly grated Parmesan cheese instead of pre-shredded cheese.
- If the sauce becomes too thick upon standing, whisk in a tablespoon of milk or reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
- This sauce is excellent for dipping your favorite homemade breadsticks.
