Description

Make quick, fudgy protein balls that taste like raw brownie batter without any baking required. These are simple to prepare for a high-protein snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup smooth almond butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the rolled oats in a food processor and pulse until they resemble a coarse flour.
  2. Add the chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, almond butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt to the food processor.
  3. Process the mixture until it comes together into a thick, sticky dough. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  4. If the mixture seems too dry, add the almond milk one tablespoon at a time until the dough holds together when pressed.
  5. If using, pulse in the mini chocolate chips briefly.
  6. Remove the dough from the food processor. If the dough is too soft to handle, chill it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  7. Roll the dough into small, uniform balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  8. Place the finished balls on a parchment-lined plate or container.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • Store the finished protein balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months; let them thaw slightly before eating.
  • You can substitute almond butter with peanut butter or sunflower seed butter for a different flavor profile.
  • If you need a lower-sugar option, replace the maple syrup with a sugar-free liquid sweetener, adjusting the liquid content as needed.
