Description

You will make the Ultimate Moist Amish Apple Fritter Bread, featuring tender apple pieces and a sweet cinnamon glaze. This quick bread delivers comfort and deep apple flavor in every slice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for batter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup peeled, chopped apples (Fuji or Honeycrisp work well)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • For the Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a standard 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set this dry mixture aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the granulated sugar and melted butter until combined. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and the milk to the wet ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry mixture. Mix only until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped apples using a spatula.
  6. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. While the bread cools slightly in the pan (about 15 minutes), whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and cinnamon for the glaze until smooth.
  9. Remove the bread from the pan and place it on a wire rack. Drizzle the cinnamon glaze evenly over the warm bread.
  10. Allow the glaze to set before slicing and serving your moist apple bread.

Notes

  • For extra moisture, use apples that retain some firmness after baking.
  • Do not overmix the batter; this keeps your bread tender.
  • You can add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans with the apples if you desire crunch.
  • The bread stores well covered at room temperature for up to three days.
