Description

You must try this Classic Marry Me Chicken. It features tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich, creamy sun-dried tomato and Parmesan sauce. This recipe delivers impressive, restaurant-quality flavor and is quick enough for a weeknight, making it perfect for date night dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts evenly with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the chicken breasts for 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F or 74°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 1 minute.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  7. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  8. Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the chicken.
  9. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to heat the chicken through and allow it to absorb the sauce flavors.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil before serving over pasta or rice.

Notes

  • For an even richer sauce, add 1/4 cup of cream cheese along with the heavy cream.
  • If you want to make this a Marry Me Chicken Pasta, cook 8 ounces of your favorite pasta separately and toss it directly into the sauce before adding the chicken back in.
  • Use good quality Parmesan cheese for the best flavor in your garlic cream sauce.
