Description

A delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, this Limoncello Tiramisu offers a bright, citrusy flavor that perfectly complements the creamy mascarpone and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. It’s an elegant and refreshing dessert that’s sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream, cold
  • 1/2 cup limoncello
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Lemon zest, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof bowl set over simmering water, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Gently fold in the softened mascarpone cheese until just combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the cold heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and creamy.
  5. In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and limoncello.
  6. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee-limoncello mixture, ensuring they are moistened but not soggy.
  7. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
  8. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
  9. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  11. Before serving, dust generously with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with lemon zest, if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure your egg yolks and sugar mixture is cooked thoroughly to avoid raw egg consumption.
  • Do not over-soak the ladyfingers, as they can become too mushy.
  • Chilling time is crucial for the best texture and flavor.
