A straightforward recipe for baked lasagna using cottage cheese for a creamy, high-protein filling.

- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 (24 ounce) jar of pasta sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) container of cottage cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 9 oven-ready lasagna noodles
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Brown the ground meat in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
- Stir the pasta sauce into the cooked meat. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, combine the cottage cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Arrange three lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the cottage cheese mixture evenly over the noodles.
- Spoon half of the remaining meat sauce over the cottage cheese layer.
- Sprinkle one-third of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Repeat the layers: three noodles, the remaining cottage cheese mixture, the remaining meat sauce, and another one-third of the mozzarella cheese.
- Top with the final three noodles and the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef for a leaner option.
- If you do not have oven-ready noodles, cook regular lasagna noodles according to package directions before assembling.
- For a richer flavor, add 1/2 cup of chopped onion when browning the meat.
