Description

A recipe for making refreshing iced peach green tea using homemade peach syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 green tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose leaf green tea, preferably jasmine)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen peach slices
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water (for syrup)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Make the peach syrup: Combine 1 cup peach slices, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the peaches soften, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let it steep for 15 minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract liquid. Discard solids. Let the syrup cool.
  4. Brew the tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a near boil (about 175°F for green tea). Remove from heat.
  5. Steep the green tea bags or loose leaves for 3 minutes. Do not over-steep, as green tea can become bitter. Remove tea bags or strain leaves.
  6. Cool the tea completely by placing it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  7. Assemble the drink: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled green tea and the cooled peach syrup. Stir well.
  8. To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the peach green tea mixture over the ice.

Notes

  • Use jasmine green tea for a flavor similar to popular coffee shop versions.
  • Adjust the amount of peach syrup based on your preferred sweetness level.
  • For a clearer tea, chill the brewed tea completely before mixing with the syrup.
