Description
A vibrant and refreshing homemade strawberry basil lemonade, perfect for summer. This recipe adds a delightful herbal twist to a classic favorite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (or to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Extra basil leaves and strawberry slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the sliced strawberries and basil leaves. Blend until smooth.
- In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the strawberry-basil puree to the pitcher.
- Pour in the cold water and stir well to combine all ingredients.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed. Add more sugar for sweetness or more lemon juice for tartness.
- Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Serve over ice, garnished with fresh basil leaves and strawberry slices if desired.
Notes
- For a less sweet lemonade, reduce the amount of sugar.
- If you don’t have a blender, you can muddle the strawberries and basil in the bottom of the pitcher.
- For a smoother texture, strain the strawberry-basil puree before adding it to the pitcher.
