Description

Create delicious homemade peach jam using your stovetop and a canner. This recipe is easy to follow and perfect for preserving the sweet taste of summer.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and chopped
  • 4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 box (1.75 oz) powdered fruit pectin


Instructions

  1. Prepare your canning jars, lids, and rings.
  2. In a large pot, combine chopped peaches, sugar, and lemon juice.
  3. Stir in the powdered fruit pectin.
  4. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
  5. Boil for 1 minute, still stirring.
  6. Remove from heat. Skim off any foam.
  7. Ladle hot jam into prepared jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
  8. Wipe jar rims clean and place lids and rings on tightly.
  9. Process jars in a boiling water canner for 10 minutes (adjust for altitude if necessary).
  10. Remove jars from canner and let cool completely on a towel-lined counter.
  11. Check for seals. Store sealed jars in a cool, dark place.

  • Use ripe, but not overripe, peaches for the best flavor and texture.
  • Adjust sugar amount based on the sweetness of your peaches.
