- 6 cups fresh peaches, sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- For the Topping:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, gently toss the sliced peaches with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pour the peach mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the milk and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cobbler topping over the peach mixture.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
- If fresh peaches are not available, frozen or canned (drained) peaches can be used. Adjust sugar as needed.
- You can add a pinch of cardamom to the peach mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
