  • 6 cups fresh peaches, sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • For the Topping:
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, gently toss the sliced peaches with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Pour the peach mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Add the milk and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the cobbler topping over the peach mixture.
  8. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
  • If fresh peaches are not available, frozen or canned (drained) peaches can be used. Adjust sugar as needed.
  • You can add a pinch of cardamom to the peach mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
