  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Pour in the milk and stir until just combined, forming a thick batter.
  6. Spoon dollops of the batter over the peach mixture in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.
