  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1/4 cup sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down dough. Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  7. Cut out donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters of different sizes.
  8. Place donuts on parchment-lined baking sheets, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Fry donuts in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  11. Remove donuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  12. In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  13. Dip warm donuts in the cinnamon sugar mixture until coated.
