- 6 cups crispy rice cereal
- 1 package (10 ounces) marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pink or red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Lightly grease a large saucepan or non-stick spray a large bowl.
- Melt the butter in the saucepan over low heat.
- Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and food coloring, if using.
- Pour the crispy rice cereal into the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir gently until the cereal is evenly coated.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Press down evenly with a piece of wax paper or a greased spatula. Do not pack too tightly.
- Let the mixture cool completely, about 30 minutes.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the treats.
- If desired, melt white chocolate or pink candy melts for drizzling or dipping the edges.
Notes
- For extra color, you can add sprinkles to the warm mixture before pressing it into the dish.
- If you prefer a softer treat, slightly reduce the amount of cereal.
- Clean up sticky utensils quickly by spraying them with cooking spray before they dry.
