Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.
  4. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. To form the heart shape, squeeze the batter from a small squeeze bottle or use two spoons to carefully pour the batter onto the hot griddle in a heart shape. Start with the bottom point, then make two rounded humps at the top, and connect them with a slight dip in the center.
  6. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and bubbles appear on the surface. Flip carefully.
