- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for topping)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine melted butter, salt, and egg.
- Add the yeast mixture and 2 cups of flour to the wet ingredients. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the remaining flour and the 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
- Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- While the rolls are rising, mix the minced garlic and 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
- Brush the tops of the risen rolls with the garlic butter mixture.
- Sprinkle the tops with the remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese and parsley.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Brush with remaining melted butter immediately after removing from the oven.
