Description

Make these simple and cheesy sausage pinwheels using crescent roll dough for a perfect party appetizer or quick snack. They are incredibly easy to prepare and always disappear fast!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 pound bulk breakfast sausage
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until it is completely browned. Drain off any excess grease well.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, and shredded cheddar cheese (if using). Mix until everything is fully incorporated and smooth.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. Separate the dough into individual triangles.
  5. Spoon about one tablespoon of the sausage mixture onto the wide end of each dough triangle.
  6. Starting from the wide end, tightly roll each triangle toward the point. Pinch the edges together to seal the roll.
  7. Place the rolled pinwheels seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute puff pastry for crescent roll dough for a richer texture.
  • For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the filling mixture.
  • These freeze well! Assemble them, place them on a tray, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
