Description

Make this simple, cheesy pizza casserole using biscuit dough for a quick and hearty weeknight dinner that your family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16.3 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with Italian seasoning and garlic powder until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Stir the tomato sauce and water into the cooked beef mixture. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Cut each biscuit into quarters. Place half of the biscuit pieces evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour the meat sauce mixture evenly over the biscuit layer.
  6. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and provolone cheese over the sauce. Scatter the pepperoni slices on top.
  7. Top with the remaining biscuit pieces. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top layer of biscuits.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the ground beef.
  • For a make-ahead option, assemble the casserole completely, cover, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add 10 minutes to the baking time if baking directly from the refrigerator.
  • Use your favorite pizza sauce instead of tomato sauce and water for a stronger flavor.
