Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Onion slices
- Pickle slices
- Cheese slices (optional)
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up.
- Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired doneness.
- If using cheese, place a slice on each burger during the last minute of cooking and allow it to melt.
- Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in the skillet.
- Assemble your burgers by placing a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun.
- Top with lettuce, tomato slices, onion slices, pickle slices, and your favorite condiments.
- Place the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add Worcestershire sauce or garlic powder to the meat mixture.
- Ensure your ingredients are fresh for the best taste.
- Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of your patties and your preferred level of doneness.
