Description
A simple recipe for a crisp, homemade sparkling water cooler flavored with fresh cucumber and pungent ginger.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup fresh cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh ginger, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 tablespoon simple syrup (or to taste)
- 2 cups chilled sparkling water
- Ice cubes
- Cucumber slices and mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the cold water, sliced cucumber, and sliced ginger in a small bowl or jar.
- Muddle the cucumber and ginger lightly to release their flavors. Do not over-muddle.
- Let the mixture infuse for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator. For stronger flavor, infuse for up to 2 hours.
- Strain the infused water mixture into a glass, discarding the solids.
- Stir in the fresh lime juice and simple syrup until dissolved.
- Fill serving glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the cucumber-ginger base mixture into the glasses, filling them about one-third full.
- Top each glass with chilled sparkling water.
- Garnish with fresh cucumber slices and mint sprigs before serving immediately.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of ginger based on your preference for spice level.
- If you prefer a less sweet drink, omit the simple syrup or use a sugar substitute.
- For a quicker infusion, gently simmer the cucumber and ginger in the 1 cup of water for 5 minutes, then chill completely before using.
