Description
A simple, flavorful recipe for achieving perfectly crispy roasted asparagus, ideal as a festive side dish for your Christmas dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, tough ends trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
- Place the trimmed asparagus on a large baking sheet in a single layer.
- Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle the minced garlic, salt, and pepper over the asparagus and toss again.
- Roast for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the spears, until tender-crisp.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven.
- Immediately sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and lemon zest over the hot asparagus. Toss gently to coat.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, use a large baking sheet so the asparagus has space and does not steam.
- If your asparagus spears are very thick, you may need to increase the roasting time by a few minutes.
- You can prepare the asparagus (trimming and tossing with oil and seasonings) up to 2 hours ahead of time and keep it refrigerated before roasting.
