Ingredients

  • 1 pound white fish fillets (like cod, haddock, or tilapia), cut into 1-inch strips
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Olive oil or other cooking oil for frying


Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, combine panko breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Place flour in another shallow dish and beaten eggs in a third.
  3. Dip each fish strip first into the flour, then into the eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with the panko mixture.
  4. Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Carefully place the coated fish sticks in the hot oil, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove fish sticks from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve immediately.
