Description

Prepare a restaurant-style creamy lemon garlic chicken in one skillet in under 30 minutes. This quick recipe uses simple ingredients for a bright, zesty weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F). Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and lemon juice. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the liquid simmer and reduce slightly for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Do not boil after adding the cheese.
  7. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Serve this chicken over cooked pasta, rice, or with steamed asparagus for a complete meal.
  • For a richer sauce, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, but the sauce may be thinner.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor; bottled juice changes the taste.
