Description
Prepare a restaurant-style creamy lemon garlic chicken in one skillet in under 30 minutes. This quick recipe uses simple ingredients for a bright, zesty weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F). Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth and lemon juice. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the liquid simmer and reduce slightly for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Do not boil after adding the cheese.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Serve this chicken over cooked pasta, rice, or with steamed asparagus for a complete meal.
- For a richer sauce, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, but the sauce may be thinner.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor; bottled juice changes the taste.
