Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
- Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- While the potatoes are cooking, warm the milk, heavy cream, and minced garlic in a small saucepan over low heat. Do not boil.
- Drain the cooked potatoes well and return them to the pot.
- Add the butter to the hot potatoes and mash them with a potato masher until mostly smooth.
- Gradually add the warm milk mixture to the mashed potatoes, stirring until you reach your desired creamy consistency.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For an even richer flavor, you can use half-and-half instead of milk and cream.
- Adjust the amount of garlic to your preference.
- Ensure the milk mixture is warm to prevent cooling down the potatoes.
