Description
A simple recipe for a rich and creamy sauce featuring fresh avocado and cilantro, perfect for tacos, grilled items, or as a dressing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
- 1 cup fresh cilantro, packed
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (or dairy-free alternative for vegan)
- 1/4 cup water (add more for thinner consistency)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
Instructions
- Place the avocado flesh, cilantro, Greek yogurt, water, lime juice, minced garlic, salt, and cumin into a food processor or high-speed blender.
- Blend the ingredients until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
- If the sauce is too thick for your liking, add water, one tablespoon at a time, blending after each addition until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste the sauce and adjust salt or lime juice if necessary.
- Transfer the sauce to an airtight container.
Notes
- For a vegan version, substitute the Greek yogurt with plain unsweetened soy yogurt or cashew cream.
- This sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for up to three days. The color may darken slightly due to oxidation.
- To help maintain a brighter green color, add an extra splash of lime juice before storing.
