Description
A recipe to replicate the sweet, smoky, and tangy flavor of the official Chick-fil-A Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce using common kitchen ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Combine the ketchup, honey, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a small saucepan.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk the ingredients together constantly until the mixture begins to simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Do not boil rapidly.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the sauce to cool completely. The sauce will thicken more as it cools.
- Transfer the cooled sauce to an airtight container for storage.
Notes
- This sauce pairs well with chicken nuggets, grilled chicken sandwiches, and french fries.
- Store the finished sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- For a slightly tangier flavor, increase the apple cider vinegar by one teaspoon.
