Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (5 ounces) tuna, drained
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices bread
- 2 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or provolone)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, onion, and pickle relish.
- Season with salt and pepper to your liking. Mix well to create the tuna salad.
- Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
- Divide the tuna salad evenly between the two slices of bread in the skillet.
- Top the tuna salad with a slice of cheese on each sandwich.
- Place the remaining two slices of bread on top of the cheese, butter-side up.
- Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from skillet, slice in half if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of Dijon mustard to the tuna salad.
- Experiment with different types of cheese for a unique taste.
- Ensure the skillet is not too hot to prevent burning the bread before the cheese melts.
