- 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 pound mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream

- 24-30 ladyfingers
- Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions
- Combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish.
- In a heatproof bowl set over simmering water, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar. Cook, whisking constantly, until thickened and pale, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Gently fold the softened mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and creamy.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are moist but not soggy. Arrange a single layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the tiramisu to set.
- Before serving, dust the top generously with unsweetened cocoa powder.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use espresso instead of brewed coffee.
- Ensure your mascarpone cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
- Do not oversoak the ladyfingers, or they will become mushy.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur and use only strong brewed coffee.
