Description

Enjoy a simple yet decadent breakfast with this classic French toast recipe. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, it’s perfect with your favorite syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread (brioche, challah, or thick-cut white bread work well)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Let it soak for about 30 seconds per side for thicker bread.
  3. Melt the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place the soaked bread slices into the hot skillet.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve immediately with maple syrup.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Add a sprinkle of powdered sugar or fresh berries for extra flair.
  • If you don’t have cinnamon, you can omit it.
