Description

Enjoy the classic taste of churros with this quick and easy recipe for churro chips and caramel dip. These crispy cinnamon-sugar coated tortilla chips are a fun and fast sweet snack, perfect for satisfying your cravings in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 (6-inch) corn tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Caramel Dip:
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut each tortilla into 8 wedges, like a pizza.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Arrange the tortilla wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Brush the tops of the tortilla wedges with melted butter.
  6. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered wedges.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the chips are golden brown and crispy. Watch them closely to prevent burning.
  8. While the chips are baking, prepare the caramel dip. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, heavy cream, and salt.
  9. Stir constantly until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
  10. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously, until it thickens slightly.
  11. Remove from heat. The caramel will thicken more as it cools.
  12. Let the churro chips cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.
  13. Serve the warm churro chips with the caramel dip.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can bake the chips for a minute or two longer, but be careful not to burn them.
  • If you prefer a thinner caramel dip, add a little more heavy cream.
  • Store any leftover caramel dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat gently before serving.
