Description

Enjoy these vibrant Chicken Tikka Tacos, a quick and flavorful fusion of Indian spices and Mexican flair. This recipe brings together tender tikka-marinated chicken with fresh taco toppings for a delightful meal ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup crumbled cotija cheese (or feta)
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt. Add chicken pieces and toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 10 minutes (or up to 30 minutes).
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Warm the tortillas according to package directions.
  4. Fill each warm tortilla with the cooked chicken tikka.
  5. Top with chopped red onion, fresh cilantro, and cotija cheese.
  6. Serve immediately with lime wedges.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add more cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  • If you don’t have ginger-garlic paste, mince 1 inch of fresh ginger and 2 cloves of garlic.
  • Feel free to add other toppings like diced tomatoes, avocado, or a dollop of plain yogurt or sour cream.
