Description

Make this incredibly easy Cherry Dump Cake with minimal effort. This recipe delivers a warm, bubbly dessert with a sweet cherry base and a buttery, crisp topping, similar to a cobbler. It is a perfect, no-fuss crowd pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix (do not mix)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it into an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry filling. Do not stir or mix the layers.
  4. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface of the dry cake mix. Try to cover as much of the dry mix as possible.
  5. If using nuts, sprinkle them evenly over the top layer now.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  7. Remove the Cherry Dump Cake from the oven and let it cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute the yellow cake mix with a white or butter cake mix.
  • This Easy Dump Cake is wonderful served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • If you want a slightly different texture, use half a cup of butter instead of a full cup for a less dense topping.
  • This recipe is a great base for other fruit variations, like pineapple or blueberry.
