Description
Make this incredibly easy Cherry Dump Cake with minimal effort. This recipe delivers a warm, bubbly dessert with a sweet cherry base and a buttery, crisp topping, similar to a cobbler. It is a perfect, no-fuss crowd pleaser for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
- 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix (do not mix)
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- Optional: 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it into an even layer.
- Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry filling. Do not stir or mix the layers.
- Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface of the dry cake mix. Try to cover as much of the dry mix as possible.
- If using nuts, sprinkle them evenly over the top layer now.
- Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
- Remove the Cherry Dump Cake from the oven and let it cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, substitute the yellow cake mix with a white or butter cake mix.
- This Easy Dump Cake is wonderful served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- If you want a slightly different texture, use half a cup of butter instead of a full cup for a less dense topping.
- This recipe is a great base for other fruit variations, like pineapple or blueberry.
