Description

A quick and festive holiday brunch recipe for Cheesy Eggnog French Toast, perfect for a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of challah or brioche bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Butter for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, eggnog, heavy cream, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  2. Arrange the bread slices in the eggnog mixture, letting them soak for about 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Heat a lightly buttered griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place soaked bread slices on the hot griddle.
  5. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the French toast slices as they cook.
  6. Once the bottom is golden brown and the cheese has started to melt, carefully flip the French toast.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top of the French toast.
  8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and gooey.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings, like maple syrup, whipped cream, or fresh berries.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a good quality eggnog.
  • Challah or brioche bread works best due to its eggy and slightly sweet nature.
  • You can adjust the amount of cheese to your preference.
