Description

Create the ultimate decadent boozy hot chocolate using rich dark chocolate, creamy milk, and a perfect pairing of Bourbon and Bailey’s Irish Cream. This recipe is ideal for warming up cold winter nights or serving at holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 4 ounces Dark Chocolate (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1.5 ounces Bourbon
  • 1.5 ounces Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • Whipped Cream and Chocolate Shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, chopped dark chocolate, sugar, salt, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth. Do not let it boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and allow the hot chocolate to simmer gently for 2 minutes, continuing to whisk.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  5. Stir in the Bourbon and Bailey’s Irish Cream until fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the boozy hot chocolate into mugs.
  7. Top generously with whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For an extra rich flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate (60-70% cacao).
  • You can substitute the Bourbon with dark rum or Kahlua for different flavor profiles.
  • If you prefer a thicker drink, whisk in 1 teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon of cold milk before heating.
  • This recipe is perfect for setting up a festive Hot Chocolate Bar.
