Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, divided
- 1 head broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, toss the sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Set aside.
- Heat 1/2 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until browned. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
- Add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, oyster sauce, and brown sugar.
- Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the broccoli. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add the sesame oil and toss everything together to coat.
- Serve immediately over rice.
Notes
- For best results, ensure your beef is thinly sliced against the grain. This makes it more tender.
- You can adjust the sauce sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger.
