Description
Make juicy, caramelized BBQ chicken thighs using a simple oven baking method. This recipe delivers great flavor with minimal effort for a quick weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
- Pat the chicken thighs very dry using paper towels. This helps the skin crisp.
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this mixture evenly over the chicken thighs.
- Place the seasoned thighs skin-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and brush a generous layer of BBQ sauce over the top of each thigh.
- Return the chicken to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) and the sauce is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispy skin, place the chicken on a wire rack set inside the baking sheet before baking.
- If you prefer boneless, skinless thighs, reduce the final baking time by about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Use a homemade BBQ sauce for a unique flavor profile.
